Gambling is one of the country’s most popular pastimes with tens of thousands of avid players enjoying blackjack, baccarat and roulette.
In fact, gambling is so popular here in the United States that it is often used by movie directors as a device to add drama and intrigue into their films. There has been a plethora of gambling scenes in Hollywood films, which have inspired people all over the world to try their hand at the casino games featured, but which are the best? Which are the ones that really added meat to the film and became iconic in their own right?
Cool Hand Luke (1967)
The Best Scenes in Casinos in James Bond Movies With the new James Bond movie Spectre in theatres, this action-packed movie franchise is once again making headlines as fans of the James bond films celebrate the release of the 24 th Bond movie. ’Casino’ is a 1995 American epic crime drama film directed by ’Martin Scorsese’ and starring ’Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci & Sharon Stone’.Casino was released o.
In this classic film Paul Newman plays Lucas “Luke”Jackson, a decorated war veteran who is sentenced to two years on a chain gang in a prison camp after drunkenly cutting parking meters off their poles. The prison has its own established hierarchy which Luke refuses to adhere to, notably picking a fight with Dragline, one of the prisons most powerful prisoners.
Despite losing the fight, Luke earns the respect of the other prisoners by simply refusing to give in. Luke finally earns the respect of all the prisoners by winning a game of stud poker with a series of outlandish bluffs.
After bluffing every player out one-by-one, Luke scoops the winnings and reveals his cards showing he had nothing. This leads him to utter the movie’s most iconic line, “sometimes, nothing can be a real cool hand.”
Goodfellas (1990)
In Martin Scorsese’s cult classic there is no shortage of unhinged characters but Tommy DeVito, played by Joe Pesci is by far the most unpredictable of the lot. In one of the movie’s most iconic scenes DeVito appears to take umbrage to being called ‘funny’ by Henry and seems to be building towards violence before revealing that his anger was all a ruse and it was one big joke.
The casino scenes started from a lead where the secret service intelligence reveals that Le Chiffre is planning to raise money in a high-stakes poker game in Montenegro at Le Casino Royale. The MI6 assigns Bond to play against him; concluding that if the enemy loses in the game, the whole terrorist organizations will be demolished. Martin Scorsese’s movie Casino might just be the very best Las Vegas movie of all time. The actual casino scenes in Casino are few and far between which makes them that bit more special. Our favorite scene is any and all featuring Oscar winner Sharon Stone who portrays Sam’s wife, Ginger. ’Casino’ is a 1995 American epic crime drama film directed by ’Martin Scorsese’ and starring ’Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci & Sharon Stone’. Casino was released.
One occasion when Tommy isn’t joking is the famous poker scene, when he takes issue with a young man called Spider who is serving the gang drinks as they play cards. After Spider forgets Tommy’s drink, the mobster begins insulting him before pulling out his gun and commanding him to dance, like in the old Westerns.
Inevitably Tommy goes too far and ends up shooting Spider in the foot, adding insult to injury.
Sadly, that’s not the end of the ordeal for Spider, at the next card game he stands up to Tommy and pays the ultimate price.

Casino Royale (2006)Casino Royale Best Scenes
The James Bond franchise is synonymous with glamorous gambling scenes and the best of the bunch came in the 2006 film Casino Royale. In the remake Bond comes up against super villain Le Chiffre in a high stakes game of Texas Hold ‘Em poker.
In the early games Bond loses out to Le Chiffre, but he learns a valuable lesson in these losses by figuring out Le Chiffre’s physical tell. In the final hand, with $100 million at stake Bond risks it all to beat his opponent with a phenomenal, if not slightly improbable hand.Best Scenes Casino No Deposit
Aztec wins slots. Poker enthusiasts have questioned the realism of this scene relentlessly online, but what cannot be argued is the drama that the scene brings to the film.
